Opening Ceremony Recap | ExScore Winter Hackathon 2025

Thank you all for joining the opening ceremony of ExScore's Winter Hackathon of 2025. For those who couldn't make the meeting or want more info, the following message summarizes what we went over.

We first went over ExScore’s Mission and Accomplishments and then talked about this year's task for the hackathon which was to create a website or app based around the theme.

Your group must also submit a video of the product in work, explain its top 3 features, and be prepared to answer any questions the judges might have about your product. Your product and its video will be due February 21st (Friday) at 11:59 PM PST (Midnight). On February 22nd a panel of 5 judges from diverse CS backgrounds will grade your project, and on February 23rd (Sunday) at 10:00 AM PST we will hold our closing ceremony and announce the winners of this year’s hackathon.

The criteria for this hackathon includes the creativity, Design/UI, Community Impact, Presentation, Scalability, and Accessibility.  More info about the criteria including the points distribution will be stated in the devpost website.

The prizes for the hackathon include cash prizes for the top 3 teams, a possible product endorsement to further develop your product for the top 3 teams, and a wild card entry to the ACF’s Future Impact Challenge for 1st place.

The endorsements can go up $400 based on the quality of your product and the time it will take to develop it.  The product may be considered and incorporated in our nonprofit as one of our projects in order to increase connections and develop the product’s outreach.

Attributed to our sponsorship with ACF, you also have the chance of getting a wild card entry to their Future Impact Challenge (this applied only to high schoolers).  The Future Impact Challenge is an international student tech entrepreneurship competition hosted by Silicon Valley for the world, where it aims to empower future leaders to exercise their entrepreneurial skills with measurable rubrics and an innovative spirit's outreach.

The theme for this hackathon is EduTech: Rethink education through personalized, gamified, or AI-driven platforms  Create virtual classrooms coding platforms, or study planners.  This again is just a main guideline or premise for your project submission, and we are looking for creativity and uniqueness through your projects.
